Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site Guided Tours

Corner Brisbane and Campbell Streets,

Hobart’s most significant Historic Convict Site can only be inspected on a guided tour. Visitors cannot tour inside the site unaccompanied.

Tour the fascinating Courtrooms, tunnels, solitary confinement cells and gallows in this 1830's convict building.  Hear true stories of convict history, Hobart gaol, Supreme Court trials and grim executions.

Open every day except Christmas Day  and Good Friday

Please Note:-  Guided tours

 Monday to Friday start 10am. 11.30 am. 1pm. & 2.30pm.

Sat. & Sun. - August to October - 2.30pm tour only

Tours last approximately 75 minutes

$6.00 Pensioner, Seniors Card holders and Students
